The new types of sheep helped bring about better times again for the much reduced population.
Sheep are vulnerable to predators, and local legend has it that the last wolf in Perthshire met its fate when it broke into the millhouse at what is now called Moullinavadie, the ‘Mill of the Wolf’ (OS NN714613), in the 18th century and attempted to steal the baby from its cradle, whereupon the mother hit it with a wooden ladle and killed it!
